Some of my favorite Pioneer Woman Recipes...

by Allison Franklin
Lets just start off by saying that I have a small and probably somewhat unhealthy crush on Pioneer Woman. I love reading her blog, her book was great and her recipes are by far the easiest and best to cook and to taste! I have compiled a list of some of my favorites for you to try. I have made all of these and my family loves them. My husband use to look scared when he knew I was trying out a new recipe and he still does... until I say it's Pioneer woman. Then all of his worries go away! Grilled Shrimp or Chicken with Lemon Basil PastaBBQ Chicken...

New Years Eve...

by Allison Franklin
It's New Years Eve. The one day out of the year that most people come up with some sort of new years resolution. I find myself having just about the same ones every year. Grow closer to God, strive everyday to be a better wife and mother, get more in shape, run farther than last year, be better at money management... and so on. Do you make New years resolutions? Do you keep them? How long do you keep them? Literally the first three weeks of January I hate going to the gym because every treadmill is full and there are people everywhere. After...

Time to have a talk...

by Allison Franklin
The other day Will and I were headed over to my parents house when we saw a car pulled over on the side of the road. The officer was out with his dog searching the car and the owner of the vehicle was sitting on the curb. Will asked, "What's going on mom?" and I just said very nonchalant, "Oh, they are probably searching for drugs." Will responded, "Oh, well, What are drugs?" ....I sat there for a minute thinking, You don't know what drugs are??? Well of course he doesn't. He is 7 (almost 8). I couldn't think of  a sugar coated way to say it...

Being Thankful...

by Allison Franklin
My kids are about to be out for a whole week of school for Thanksgiving break! I'm so excited. I've been trying to think of things for us to do each day to focus on being thankful. I want them to think past the big things... house, warm bed, food, which are great things to be thankful for but I want them to go deeper. I want to think deeper and remind myself how blessed I am. So for part of Thanksgiving decor we are making Thankful garland! I have cut out all different colors of paper into leaves and have wrote little phrases to get them started....

Chicken Corn Chowder.... And the winner is...

by Allison Franklin
I love fall. I love the changing of all seasons but my favorite by far is fall. The smell of the cool air, changing of colors, the smell of people burning their first fire in their fire place and of course the start of a season of cooking comfort food. Every year on our first cool day I make Chicken corn chowder. I don't have a picture due to the fact that I haven't made it cause Josh has been out of town and If I am going to make a dish that wonderful you better believe My man needs to be home to eat it. Enjoy!Ingredients:4 Chicken breasts cut...

Starting young...

by Allison Franklin
About a month or so ago I bought a devotional for my kids called Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. They love it, I love it, and we love reading it together. Each morning while they are eating breakfast I read what it says on the day we are on and have Will look up the scriptures to read to us and then we discuss it briefly before they run out the door to start their day. Today's topic was "Tough it Out" talking about how the enemy puts obstacles in our life and we have to use our knowledge in Christ to persevere and tough it out....

The Best Chocolate dessert ever!

by Allison Franklin
This last week was my Daddy's birthday. We had my parents over for dinner and dessert to celebrate . I like to make desserts. It is probably my favorite thing to make because it's usually hard to mess it up. This recipe is so yummy and super easy. I spotted it while I was on Pinterest. (which deserves it's own article all to itself on a later date) When you find something on Pinterest it enables you to find it from its original website. So I clicked this picture and it took me to Tasty Kitchen! So here you go... enjoy!Ingredients:1 cup All-purpose...

Yoga Shmoga...

by Allison Franklin
I was talked into going to a power Yoga class a couple of weeks ago and was not looking forward to it. I didn't know a lot about Yoga except that every where you read about running it says that Yoga is a great exercise to do to help you stay injury free during training. So I thought, Why not. When I walked into the class I thought this is going to be a breeze, how hard can stretching be? I was more than WRONG. My muscles were burning, my arms and legs were shaking and sweat was dripping off my nose onto my mat. I felt like...

Will's favorite meal

by Allison Franklin
For about the past year when it's Will's turn to pick what he wants for dinner he always says Mexican flat bread! It has become a regular around here thanks to Pioneer Woman. She posts it under her 20 minute meals but as usual, I move slower than most human beings and it takes me closer to 30. Simple and easy!Grands Home style biscuitsrefried beans 1.5 lbs. of hamburger meat taco seasoningred enchilada saucegrated cheeseonionscilantrosalsa limeRoll out your biscuits to a flat round circle and place on a cookie sheet. An Affair... I Forgive

by Allison Franklin
Growing up as a naive and somewhat judgmental woman (ouch) I would look at other peoples situations and say those "come back to bite you in the hiney" sayings like... There is no way I would ever put up with that... or, If my husband does that I'm out the door... or, when I have kids they will not act like that... Yep! I said them, maybe not out loud but none the less. These statements came to a halt the second my world came crashing down around me. Time stood still to where minutes felt like hours and hours felt like days. My...

Mom tip of the Week

I just recently caught up with the times by getting an Iphone. Yes call me old fashioned but I just didn't want something to tie me down. Well it's proven me wrong by actually helping me as long as I don't spend too much time on the social media and ignore my family. Still finding that balance! I recently made the New Year's Resolution to read my Bible all the way through. Well with a baby in one hand for most of the day, I only have one hand to read. And as many people know, it takes two hands to read a book, at least for me it does. So my lovely Iphone came to mind. I downloaded the YouVersion app. It has the Bible, reading plans, a place to take notes, and it will even read to you. The cool part, I can use one hand to read and one hand to hold my baby. ~Misty MaGouirk
