Simply Delicious

Dec 21st, 2011 // Jennifer Cheyne

I've recycled this blog because I think that this is such a perfect Christmas morning breakfast (and because I've had several requests for the recipe).  It is still a family favorite, and one that the Cheynes will be enjoying Sunday morning!  I pray you all have a blessed and merry Christmas!

I am so excited to share this unbelievably delicious (and unbelievably simple) recipe that is an absolute Cheyne Family favorite!  We make these sticky buns often, and my kids love to help make them almost as much as they love to eat them.  I have simplified my recipe even further since I first began making these, so I will give you both options.

Sticky Buns

*This is the original recipe.

2 cans of Grands biscuits (or 3 cans of regular sized biscuits)

1 1/2 sticks of butter

1 1/2 cups of brown sugar

2 T water

1-2 cups of chopped pecans (depending upon preference)

1/2 cup of sugar

1/4 cup of cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350.  Place cinnamon and sugar in large Zip-Lock bag and mix well.  Tear biscuits into bite-sized pieces and place into bag.  Toss until pieces are evenly coated.  In bottom of a bunt pan, sprinkle about 1/3 of pecans.  Then place about 1/2 of biscuits on top.  Sprinkle next 1/3 of pecans on top of biscuits and then rest of biscuits followed by last of pecans.  Place butter in saucepan over med-high heat.  When butter is completely melted, add brown sugar and stir frequently until sugar melts.  Stir in water and continue stirring until smooth and about the consistency of syrup.  Pour over top of biscuits and pecans and bake for 20-25 minutes.  Let cool about 10 minutes, place serving dish or large plate over top of pan, flip over and carefully lift pan off.  Voila!...yummy, gooey deliciousness!

*You can skip a step by substituting canned cinnamon rolls for biscuits.  Simply tear the cinnamon rolls into pieces and place them in the pan.  You don't have to toss these into cinnamon and sugar!

Hope your family enjoys these as much as mine does!

Mom tip of the Week

I just recently caught up with the times by getting an Iphone. Yes call me old fashioned but I just didn't want something to tie me down. Well it's proven me wrong by actually helping me as long as I don't spend too much time on the social media and ignore my family. Still finding that balance! I recently made the New Year's Resolution to read my Bible all the way through. Well with a baby in one hand for most of the day, I only have one hand to read. And as many people know, it takes two hands to read a book, at least for me it does. So my lovely Iphone came to mind. I downloaded the YouVersion app. It has the Bible, reading plans, a place to take notes, and it will even read to you. The cool part, I can use one hand to read and one hand to hold my baby. ~Misty MaGouirk
