What's Your Season

by Jennifer Cheyne
Right now it is the winter season.  And it is the cold and flu season.  Also, I am pregnant.  I am raising 4 beautiful, busy, active, busy, wonderful, busy children.  Two of these busy children are at home with me during the day.  And it is the winter season, and the cold and flu season...and did I mention I'm pregnant?  Needless to say, I often feel like I am this nesting, doctoring, disciplining, cleaning, cooking little hermit crab, in my shell, while the events of this world pass me by.  Take this morning,...

The New Year

by Kenna Sluder
I love the beginning of a new year and looking ahead to what's to come.  Something we do every year instead of resolutions is to make a list of goals together.  I think writing them down always helps to make us accountable and it seem more tangible.  These can be anything.  Do you want to try a new hobby?  Get out of debt? Go on a family trip?  So make 2012 THE year you do it.  Don't be discouraged if you get off course, just keep making steps in that direction and you can achieve it! May your family be blessed...

Change

by Sarah Clark
In the coming of a new year, change is right there in our face.  I'm a person who likes change.  I don't need to crawl into my bed with a brownie when I get a new haircut.  I don't need to consider for weeks whether I should wear a necklace.  I just go with it.  That's how I am.   I like things to be new and different.  Most things.  While we were gone on Christmas vacation, Peter got a new work truck,  It''s great.  Nicer and newer than his last truck, smoother ride.  (Of course he got a smoother...

Fear No Evil

by Kenna Sluder
I wanted to suggest a great book I just finished-Fear No Evil by Brady Body.  Josh got it for me for Christmas and it's a pretty fast read and extremely enlightening.  It is the journey of New Life Church in Colorado Springs and the tragic shooting that took place on their campus in December 2007.  Brady is the Senior Pastor their and has lead the church through the valley.  A great story of walking out faith and love in the hardest of times.  You should read it!

New Years Eve...

by Allison Franklin
It's New Years Eve. The one day out of the year that most people come up with some sort of new years resolution. I find myself having just about the same ones every year. Grow closer to God, strive everyday to be a better wife and mother, get more in shape, run farther than last year, be better at money management... and so on. Do you make New years resolutions? Do you keep them? How long do you keep them? Literally the first three weeks of January I hate going to the gym because every treadmill is full and there are people everywhere. After...

Mission Organization

by Kenna Sluder
I guess it's the combination of receiving an abundance of Christmas blessings, wanting to start the new year on a good note, and being almost 6 months pregnant and needing to clean out the guest room and convert to a nursery, but I've been on a mission to organize this house!! I literally just finished emptying the closet of my oldest two boys who share a room, to sort and organize it all.  Two weeks ago Josh and I spent several hours going through our entire closet to clean it out.  We ended with an SUV full of nice things to donate....

A Gracious Heart

by Kenna Sluder
My kids have no problem receiving gifts, especially around Christmas time.  We are extremely blessed and have grandparents that enjoy going a little over the top sometimes.  The most important thing I want to learn myself and teach my kids is receiving these blessings with gratitude.  I don't want it to become the norm to expect to be surrounded by brightly colored packages to tear into and not be able to appreciate them.   I want each one to be received with an attitude of thankfulness and not just thrown aside to see what is...

It Started with a Baby

by Amy Spears
Christmas.  I have loved this time of year since my earliest memory.  As I have grown up the meaning of Christmas has changed more and more.  I would enjoy living in the season of Christmas all year.  I am not talking about the decorations or the music (although those are wonderful and seem to be magicial).  What I am expressing is a desire to live in the Truth or the attitude of what this season represents to the world.  God-the Son, made manifest into human form, humbling himself into a baby, for the singular purpose...

Where's Your Spot?

by Amy Spears
This is my spot. It's where I'm actually sitting right now.  Most mornings my alarm goes off on my phone, I shuffle into the kitchen where the coffee pot has made the morning's warmth, and I take my cup with me to this very place in our living room.  This is the spot where many things have taken place for me.  I have surrendered things that were dear, written raw and real feelings out, received hope for an issue, peace for a fear, or grace for my day. Luke 9:23 says,"And he said to all, 'If anyone would come after me, let...

How's Your Health?

by Jennifer Cheyne
My husband and I have been taking a fantastic marriage class that our church is offering this semester.  One of the most challenging "homework" assignments that we were given during this class was to evaluate our health.  Deuteronomy 6 tells us that we are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.  However, if we are to love the Lord with the whole of each of these parts, we must first be sure that they are, in fact, whole. So, here I was, trying to complete this self-evaluation about my overall "health", and I...

Mom tip of the Week

I just recently caught up with the times by getting an Iphone. Yes call me old fashioned but I just didn't want something to tie me down. Well it's proven me wrong by actually helping me as long as I don't spend too much time on the social media and ignore my family. Still finding that balance! I recently made the New Year's Resolution to read my Bible all the way through. Well with a baby in one hand for most of the day, I only have one hand to read. And as many people know, it takes two hands to read a book, at least for me it does. So my lovely Iphone came to mind. I downloaded the YouVersion app. It has the Bible, reading plans, a place to take notes, and it will even read to you. The cool part, I can use one hand to read and one hand to hold my baby. ~Misty MaGouirk
